When you use Linktree Earn features to sell products or earn commissions, there are two types of fees that may apply: transaction fees (from Linktree) and processing fees (from third party providers like Stripe). These fees are automatically calculated and deducted before any payouts are sent to you — so there’s nothing extra you need to manage.
📝 Note: All amounts and fee examples in this article are shown in USD.
What are transaction fees?
Transaction fees are Linktree’s platform fees. They're applied when someone makes a purchase through your Linktree. These fees help us support and improve the tools that allow you to sell products, earn commissions, and more. The fee varies by your Linktree plan.
What are processing fees?
Processing fees are charged by third-party services like Stripe. These are standard industry fees applied by payment processing platforms to facilitate online transactions. Stripe’s standard rate applies to all plans.
📝 Note: Processing fees are charged regardless of your Linktree plan.
Where fees apply
Here’s how transaction and processing fees show up across different Linktree Earn features:
Partner Earnings - Shops, Sponsored Links, Affiliate Opportunities
🇺🇸 US-only feature: Linktree Shops and Sponsored Links are available to Linkers in the United States. Eligibility depends on location and content. Learn more.
When using commissioned product links in Linktree Shops, fees are applied based on commission earned — not total order value. Here’s a breakdown of how this works:
Plan | Linktree fee | Stripe fee |
Free, Starter and Pro | % of commission earned | $0.25 per payout |
Premium | No Linktree commission | $0.25 per payout |
📝 Note: The % of commission Linktree takes is already factored into the commission amount you see in the product catalog, so you’ll see what you can earn before accepting an offer.
💡 Tip: Upgrading to Premium removes Linktree’s commission fee — so you keep more of what you earn.
Direct Earnings - Digital Products and Courses
📝 Note: Paid Digital Products are only available in certain countries, and other eligibility criteria may apply. Check who can earn with Digital Products.
With Linktree's Digital Products and Courses (powered by Kajabi), you can sell downloadable content. Here's how fees are applied:
Plan | Linktree fee | Stripe fee |
Free | 12% | 2.9% + $0.30 per purchase |
Starter | 9% | 2.9% + $0.30 per purchase |
Pro | 9% | 2.9% + $0.30 per purchase |
Premium | 0% | 2.9% + $0.30 per purchase |
📝 Note: Additional Stripe processing fees may be applicable dependent on payment type. Learn more on Stripe pricing
Example payout:
Let’s say you sell a course on your Linktree with a price of $34.99:
Plan | Linktree fee | Stripe fee | You receive |
Free | $4.20 (12%) | $1.31 | $29.48 |
Starter or Pro | $3.15 (9%) | $1.31 | $30.53 |
Premium | $0.00 | $1.31 | $33.68 |
📝 Note: Your Linktree fee is based on a percentage of the sale price. Stripe’s processing fee applies to the full amount. Both fees are automatically deducted before your payout is sent.
FAQs
Why are there two types of fees?
Each fee serves a different purpose:
Linktree transaction fees support the platform and tools you use to monetize your Linktree.
Processing fees go to Stripe for safely moving money into your account.
Can I reduce the fees I pay?
Yes. Upgrade to Premium to avoid commission fees on Partner Earnings and Linktree fees on Direct Earnings to keep more of what you earn. Note: processing fees still apply.
